Vintage Suitcase Table

It’s been over a month since I posted last … and I apologize for that.  Just know that I was thinking about this blog challenge – I didn’t completely forget about it.  Some things came up in my personal life and I had to address those issues.

Project:  Turning a vintage suitcase into a table
Expense Level:  $
Challenge Level:1 star2 star

Anyway, today I completed my FIRST task off of my bucket list challenge.  I did a craft that I’ve been meaning to do off of Pinterest.  It was something that I pinned a while back and sort of forgot about.

I went to a flea market yesterday and I picked up this vintage suitcase for only $15.  I knew right away that I had to have it.  I just wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it.  There was/is very little room in my bedroom to display a suitcase.  So I went on Pinterest and saw that I had pinned this craft idea a while back.

So how did I do it?

First I went to Menards and bought 4 of the 5 3/4 inch table legs.  I also bought a can of metallic gold spray paint and 4 top plates made by Waddell.

I measured out the distance between the plates as I set them on the back of the suitcase and made sure that they were even.  Then I drilled holes in the selected areas and attached the plates.  Finally, I screwed in the table legs, which I had already spray painted metallic gold.

And VIOLA!  I was done.

I really enjoyed doing this project.  It was almost kind of fun drilling the holes into the suitcase and attaching the legs.  I also enjoyed spray painting.  It is something I definitely think I would do again.

On top of my suitcase, I have a few books, as well as a deck of cards with 52 great travel ideas.

On the inside of the top of my suitcase I clipped and strapped in some pictures of my friends and I.  Oh, and of course, my dog, Ava.

And here is a closer look at the inside of my suitcase.

The suitcase has an attachable piece of cloth which is used to separate the bottom of the suitcase from the top.  It’s used for more storage.

Here is a look inside the bottom of the suitcase.  I decided to put some books in the bottom since I am running out of shelving space to put them in my room.
